About Dewscope
A small test desk that uses beauty products for weeks before it says a word about them.
Dewscope reviews hair dryers and stylers, skin devices, serums, moisturizers, cleansers, sunscreen, complexion products and color makeup. Every review is written by The Dewscope Test Desk: a team with different skin types, hair types and skin tones who use each product as part of a normal routine before scoring it.
What a review gives you
Each review opens with a score out of 10, a short verdict and a plain line on who the product suits. Below that you will find what we liked, what held it back, the maker's specifications and the full write-up, with pictures and captions that name where each image came from.
If a cheaper product does the same job, or a claim on the box did not hold up on our skin, the verdict says so. Scores are comparable within a category; a 9.0 sunscreen and a 9.0 hair dryer are both excellent at different jobs.
What we are not
We are not dermatologists, and nothing here is medical advice. If you have a skin condition, a known allergy or a reaction to a product, speak to a doctor or a dermatologist. Patch test anything new, including products we rate highly.
Independence
Makers do not see a review before it is published and cannot buy a score or a place in the rankings. Prices are the ones each maker lists on its own site when we publish, and they change often.
Read how we review for the method, or contact the desk with a correction or a product you want us to test.
